Show Your Talent and Win Big
The premier season of the famous reality show, India’s Got Talent began airing in June, 2009. India’s Got Talent is a joint initiative of Colors TV Channel and Britain’s Fremantle Media. Participants of all ages willing to present their talent (dancing, singing, comedy, etc.) are invited to present to the world their skill. Season 1 of India’s Got Talent offered the winner a prize-money of Rs. 1 crore.
Format of the Show
The format of India’s Got Talent Season 1 involves on-stage performances by participants in front of the judges. The contestants showcase their unique talent as judges who unimpressed can press the buzzer. After all the 3 judges press the buzzer, the contestant is eliminated. If the contestant manages to perform without all 3 disproving, he is moved to the next round.
The Talkative Hosts
India’s Got Talent Season 1 was hosted by famous MTV host and VJ, Nikhil Chinappa and VJ Ayushmaan Khurrana. Nikhil has been a regular host of various reality shows on MTV and is a household name. Ayushmaan was the winner of MTV Roadies Season 2 and rose to fame with his acclaimed performance in Vicky Donor and is known for his good looks, his melodious voice and his perfect comic-timings.
The Esteemed Judges
Judging the talented performances of the participants were 3 judges: Kirron Kher, Shekhar Kapoor and Sonali Bendre. Kirron, a renowned theatre and television actress remained popular for her natural reactions and frequents jaw-drops during the show. Shekhar Kapoor, director and producer, provided critical reviews of the performances while Sonali dazzled the audience with her stunning looks and performances. In its entirety, the jury presented a mix-bag of judges that made the show more interesting.
Finalists of India’s Got Talent 1
After undergoing rigorous scrutiny and competition, the 11 participants that got selected competed against each other to win the grand prize. They were: Abhinav joshi, Lokmanya Tilak Group (Mallakhamb performers), Msonic (Assamese music band), Mandeeps Singh’s Group (Bhangra dancers), Piyush Rajani and the Fine Tuners (Musical band), Prince Dance Group (the winners), Rajesh Amrale (Mallakhamb performers), Divyanshu and Group (Dancers), Satyajit Padhye (Ventriloquist), Sneha Kapoor & Richard Tholoor (Dancers), Saad Amin and Adam Mansi (Rappers), and Sushrut Shinde (Singer)
The Winning Act
It was the finale act of Prince Dance Group, a dance troupe that won India’s Got Talent Season 1. Led by T. Krishna Mohan Reddy, the troupe performed a stunning dancing rendition of the various avatars of Lord Vishnu. The performance was widely acclaimed by all three judges. The success translated into votes and the dancing group won.
A Unique Platform
India’s Got Talent Season 1 offered a unique platform to talented participants to showcase their talent on stage and win accolades for their talent.
