The much-awaited Season 6 of Indian Idol began its broadcasting from June and concluded in September, 2012. The competition is known to generate a lot of excitement among its viewers. This time too the viewers were expecting spectacular performances. With renowned singer, Asha Bhosle joining the elite judges panel consisting of other famous singer Sunidhi Chauhan, Music Directors Anu Malik and Salim Merchant, excitement was rife over the entire season. There was a change in hosts too. Favorite hostess, Mini Mathur was back on Indian Idol to host with Hussain Kunjerwala.

Bunch of Talent

Like its previous 5 seasons, Indian Idol Season 6 too witnessed unparalleled participation from all over the country. The auditions received an unprecedented footfall as the participants were eager to perform in front of the legendary Asha Bhosle. After facing rigorous competition in the previous rounds, the top 10 participants fought against each other to clench the title of ‘Winner’.

The Winner of Indian Idol 6

Vipul Mehta from Amritsar, Punjab, after braving four months of heated competition emerged victorious. Vipul, who started singing young at the age of 8, was a student of Mass Communications. He was known for his single ‘Rowaan Mein’ and released him album ‘Hello Namaste Sat Sri Akal’. A hardcore Sunny Deol fan, he aspires to lend his voice to the actor. Vipul bagged the cash-prize of 50 lakhs along with a Nissan Micra car, a Suzuki Hayate Bike and a contract with Sony for his album.

First Runner-Up of Indian Idol 6

Devendra Pal Singh, emerged second on Indian Idol Season 6. A reserved and disciplined Devendra loves to sing classical and sufi music. In his free time he enjoyed playing his harmonium. On his funny side, Devendra also enjoyed mimicking people. Devendra was known for his sweet and simple voice that made him a deserving participant in the Top 3 of Indian Idol Season 6.

Second Runner-Up of Indian Idol Season 6

Amit Kumar from Punjab came third on Indian Idol Season 6. Amit, who loved riding bikes, was caught by surprise when Bollywood superstar, Salman Khan gifted him his Suzuki Hayate as a gift. Belonging to a humble background, Amit lent his voice for the album ‘Indian Idol-Fabulous Four’ along with the other 3 participants in the top four of Indian Idol Season 6. He was known for his strong and bold voice.

Remaining Contestants

The other participants in the top 10 of Indian Idol Season 6 were: Poorvi Koutish, Ritika Raj (the youngest contestant on the show), Sohini Mishra, Kaushik Desphande, Amitabh Narayan, Charit Dixit and Deeksha Piyush.
