The second season of Indian Idol premiered on November 21, 2005 on Sony entertainment television after the great success of first season. It filled enthusiasm in participants as well as audience. This show began with big bash and heavy rush of people were seen giving auditions in different cities of India. Thousands among them were rejected and returned home feeling hopeless.
Same panel of judges as of season 1, which included music director Anu Malik, singer Sonu Nigam, and choreographer Farah Khan, efficiently judged the show. Participants who were selected in auditions, called up for theatre round and then for semifinals. The judges tried in all the best ways to judge participants for their singing capabilities.
The host of show Mini Mathur and Aman Verma hosted show very well and made it more interesting for viewers with their humor and high energies. Many celebrities also visited on show for inspiring all participants.
The show finally concluded on April 22, 2006 as Sandeep Acharya from Bikaner, living in Mumbai won the title of Indian Idol by obtaining maximum votes from viewers.

Popularity after the Show
Apart from all fame, Sandeep Acharya also won the contract from Sony Entertainment worth of 10 million rupees along with Maruti Baleno. After the show, he won several awards like New Bollywood talent award in USA, Sur Aradhana award in Delhi, and award from music academy presented by CM of Rajasthan. He also performed with Amitabh Bachan in Leicester in 2006.
N.C.Karunya from Hyderabad was the first runner up of show. He won the hearts of millions with his singing and innocent, charming personality. After this show, there was no looking back for him. He recorded more than 100 songs in various languages including Hindi, Kannada, Tamil, Bengali, and Telugu. Along with that, he also performed in various concerts in India and abroad.
Anuj Sharma from Himachal Pradesh was the second runner up of show. After the show, he recorded numerous Himachali folk songs with various companies and performed in several stage shows. Amey Date and Antara Mitra held the third and fourth runners up positions respectively. Everyone performed with excellence in show.
The show turned out to be very popular among audience of India. The people all around the India voted heavily for their favorite singers so that he/she can won the show.
